The visa for individuals and business delegations is a temporary visa so they can only stay for a limited period of time, usually up to 6 months.

Requirements for obtaining a business visa

  • Have a valid passport valid for more than 6 years
  • No criminal or immigration-related convictions.
  • Demonstrate to an immigration officer your intention to return to your country of origin at the end of your stay.
  • Provide proof of sufficient resources to cover the costs of your stay. The amount of money will depend on the purpose of your visit, how long you plan to stay and whether you will be staying in a hotel or with friends or family.
  • Explain the purpose of your visit and ensure that you will not be working in Canada during your stay.
  • Proof of a business relationship with a company in Canada or that you have been invited to a conference or training.
  • If you do not meet the minimum requirements, your visa will most likely be refused. However, you may also be refused a visa for security or health reasons.

How can I prove that I am a business visitor?

To qualify as a business visitor to Canada, you must explain the purpose of your visit, demonstrate a business relationship with the Canadian entity and that you do not plan to enter the Canadian labour market.

Can I bring my family members on a business visa?

No. If you wish to bring your family they must apply for a tourist visa independently.
